Digital Deception
100% Interactive Blend of Magic and Technology
High-tech wizardry involving text messaging, phone calls, emails, and video, our tech-based duo has built an arsenal of interactive magic that can be presented via any online platform. The duo was digital even before we all started social distancing, but now their successful stage show is virtual as well! The audience does not merely watch magic, they experience magic — right on their screens, on their phones and in their own hands. The tech-based duo has been seen on CNN, and their virtual magic show has been written up in Forbes, The Telegraph, and Quartz. With original magic and mind-reading effects that involve text messaging, phone calls, emails, and video, every viewer becomes a part of the magic. It’s a unique, shared experience that is suitable for any size group.

Numerous Magical Moments to Choose From
The Lottery
The polling function of most webinar platforms is used to generate a selection of numbers from the group. These random numbers are then used in an elaborate multi-phased routine wherein the numbers are magically revealed not only on screen, but in the participant’s own email inbox.
Birthday Problem
Conference attendees submit their birthdays into the webinar chat, and the duo explains the mathematical “Birthday Problem”. Amazingly, a previously-shown prediction is opened and it correctly predicts which two people would share a birthday.
Hacked
Doug and Ryan demonstrate that finding a selected card is like hacking a computer in this fun interactive effect. Every participant follows along with a small packet of playing cards, and in the end, Doug and Ryan find everyone’s individual card!
Game Time
Attendees are asked to open their phone and play an online game with Doug & Ryan. As participants play along on their phones, the magic ends up happening right in their hands. It’s a magical moment that brings the group together in a very-unexpected way.
Can You Hear Me Now?
Conference participants are asked to reach out and touch Doug’s finger on-screen. As they do, each and every person watching the webinar receives a phone call on their personal cell phones. Incredible moment.
Touch Your Screen (Not Your Face)
In this customizable, interactive routine, participants are asked to follow along with an on-screen exercise, touching their own screens. In the end, the magic works for everyone on their own computer screen.
Your Number
Call participants are sent a personalized text message “prediction” and asked to open the calculator on their phones. After a little math (everyone does it differently), the text prediction is opened to reveal that Doug and Ryan correctly predicted each and every person’s random total!
Remote Work(out)
Conference participants are encouraged to stretch their hands and arms out as a mental release. They end up performing some magic with their own hands!
Virtual Show FAQs
What platform(s) do you perform on?
The preferred platforms (in order of preference) are Zoom, Remo, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco Webex, GoToMeeting, and BlueJeans. Be sure to specify your platform during booking as there may be an additional “platform discovery” fee of $750 if extra configuration is needed.
How long is the show?
Depends on your event! For a social event with clients or employees, we usually suggest a 45 minute show so that the whole event comes in under an hour. We can also do 3-5 minute “meeting openers” or 20 minute spots within a larger program.
Does the length of the show affect the fee?
The show fee is based on a 45 minute performance - if you opt for a shorter show, that’s no problem, but the fee will not change as the setup and preparation for the event remains the same.
How many guests can attend the performance?
In the virtual world, an audience of any size can be accommodated! With that said, certain meeting platforms have size limitations… feel free to reach out for platform recommendations.
Is the show customizable?
Customized magic that is specifically tailored to your product(s), brand, or gift your guests receive in advance can be incorporated into the show. Additionally, if you are looking to incorporate company-branded graphics and backgrounds into the production of the show itself, be sure to ask about our “Enhanced Production” package, which has the look and feel of live television production as opposed to a virtual meeting.
Can you host our meeting and/or break up your performance?
Absolutely! Hosting a virtual event and/or making frequent interstitial appearances throughout is a common request and easily accomplished.
Can we have someone from our team present before your performance?
For sure! The show is often flanked by company presentations. Simply provide your event itinerary during the pre-show call so it’s clear when to be ready to “step out” onto the virtual stage.
Is the show family-friendly?
Yes! Totally appropriate for families, though it’s not a “kid's show”. After all, participants will need to use a cell phone during the show.
Can we have a pre-show call with you?
Certainly! Each virtual show booking includes a pre-show meeting to discuss any outstanding questions pertaining to show content, tech specifications, etc. If you are looking for more of an ongoing consultation for your virtual event, we recommend our “Enhanced Production” package which includes a dedicated producer who will work with your team in designing your show or meeting from the ground up.
Do you have to see the audience?
This show is packed with audience engagement so it is important that your guests have their cameras turned on! If your platform is designed in a way where most of the guests cannot be seen, be sure to ask how many on-camera participants are needed for the show during your pre-show call.
Can you involve specific participants or clients?
We try to make the show feel as spontaneous as possible, and picking specific participants tends to make the show feel “set-up”. We can, however, have one of your team members present something with us if that’s of interest.
What if someone doesn’t want to participate in the show?
Not a problem at all! Some people are camera-shy, and anyone who is unwilling to participate will not be required to.
Can we record the show?
We like to take the SnapChat approach to our shows: you experience it, and then it’s gone. Our show is meant to be enjoyed in real-time, and we kindly request that it is not recorded or posted online.
Can you set up the meeting link and/or “host” the performance?
No problem! We would be happy to set up your Zoom meeting or webinar if your group has fewer than 1000 attendees. We can also set up a slick registration page for your guests.
Can we count on your AV setup and/or internet connection?
Our virtual show is produced with professional lighting and sound on a broadcast quality multi-camera setup. The show is streamed from our New York studio over a gigabit internet connection to ensure the highest standards of quality and deliverability.
Will you teach our guests a trick and/or host a Q&A after the show?
Yes! Simply specify that you would like either of these during your pre-show call so we can best structure the show accordingly.
Can we pre-record the performance for a webinar?
Yes... although magic is always best viewed in a live environment. There is a certain electricity to a live magic show that is often lost during a pre-record unless the footage is streamed in a format that does not appear to be pre-recorded to your audience. (Note that pre-recording would still require interaction with live volunteers.)
Can the performance stream to different time zones?
A performance in any time zone can be accommodated. Once that time is locked down, an advantage of virtual performances is that audiences can tune in from the comfort of their homes, anywhere in the world, at that time.
Is there a gift item we can send our participants that you can incorporate into the show?
For sure! We have sent out custom decks of cards, mystery envelopes stuffed with goodies that we incorporate into the show, and even unique keepsakes. We find that these items help encourage attendance as well make viewers even more engaged.
Do you have a show for LIVE events?
Yes!! Digital Deception began three years ago as a live stage act. We look forward to traveling again, and we’d be happy to tell you more about the show.
